Rewarding Private School Teachers

On the 100th anniversary of the inauguration of private schools in Thailand, the Office of the Private Education Commission, under the Thai Ministry of Education, organized activities in different regions of the country during the month of February 2018. For Chonburi provincial level, OPEC honored teachers with long years of service with medal brooches and certificates on 10th of February 2018 at Assumption College Sriracha. For our Sotpattana School for the Deaf, four nominated teachers were awarded as follows: Ms. Srikanya Khamcharoen – Gold Medal for serving over 30 years, Ms. Saowanee Yodsuwan – Silver Medal for serving between 20 and 29 years, as well as Ms. Chotiwan Suksamran, and Director Angkana Kamnoedtone – Bronze Medal for serving between 10 and 19 years. The School Manager Rev. Fr. Michael Weera Phangrak congratulated the outstanding teachers and wished them more happiness, pride, and meaningful service to the disabled children..

Signs and Learning Aids

For the second study term of the academic year 2017-2018, Sotpattana School for the Deaf organized a workshop on sign language for parents of our students, and combined with the production of learning aids. Participants in the morning session learned about animals, fruits, verbs, colors, places, and vehicles. They then grouped by the levels of their kids and, together with children’s representatives, produced useful and practical learning aids for use at home..

28th ESCD Academic Day

As a member school of the Education Section of Chanthaburi Diocese, Sotpattana School for the Deaf annually joins the ESCD academic competitions.. This year, 25 representatives participate the event at Sriharuthai School, Khlung, Chanthaburi province and won the following five prizes: three gold medals for Visionary Plastic Lego Construction, Zigzag Racing, and Creative Artwork from Seeds, as well as two silver medals for Clay Molding and Coloring with Crayons.. On this occasion, Teacher Saowanee Yodsuwan is awarded “Quality and Outstanding Teacher” for the region of eight provinces.. Our heartfelt congratulations to our students and Teacher Koy khrap/kha..

International Recognition

Chairman Maurice Dimmock and CEO Lee Hammond of the Accreditation Service for International Schools, Colleges & Universities (ASIC), United Kingdom, marked the company’s 10th anniversary by holding ASIC Conference 2017 on 20-21 September 2017, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Director Angkana Kamnoedthon of Sotpattana School for the Deaf, Thailand, was among the 160 participants, and received the International Education Award for the School’s Outstanding Contribution to Special Needs Education. This recognition was the third one following the two certificates of accreditation presented by ASIC for 2012-2016, and as a “Premier Institution” for 2016-2020..

Thai Signs for Parents

During the first study term, Sotpattana School for the Deaf organized a workshop on Thai sign language for parents and caregivers of children in our school. The focused topics were Places, Persons, Emotions, Animals, and Fruits. In addition, participants were introduced to ideas and methods of producing teaching/learning aids for use with the kids. They had fun and got to know each other, strengthening their meaningful network.

Nine Graduates

Sotpattana School for the Deaf congratulates nine students and their parents, along with its own teachers and personnel, at the completion of their early childhood education. Rev. Michael Weera Phangrak, Acting School Licensee, handed certificates to young Phanthamit Poochomchuen, Adilak Sirilon, Piyaphat Sonsong, Dhammasorn Sae-Tang, Jindachote Sisook, Arisa Klinsukhon, Worraphat Viriyakitanan, Patrick Gaughan, and Kamonnetr Sakao, who will be advancing to different primary schools. Workshop on Thai Signs

Sotpattana School for the Deaf organised the second workshop on Thai Signs for parents and caretakers of students in our care. This time, the 30 participants had fun learning about Family, Animals, Fruits, Colours, and Places for the enhancement of communication with persons with hearing impairments, especially the little ones in their homes.

ESCD Academic Fair 2016

Young representatives of Sotpattana School for the Deaf competed in five competitions during the Annual Academic Fair of Education Section of Chanthaburi Diocese, held at Darasamutr Business Administration Technological College, on 18 Nov. 2016.  They won gold medals from Building Lego and Hopscotch, as well as silver medals from Drawing-Colouring with Pastels, Cut and Paste Art, and Clay Mouldings.. Completing Early Childhood Education

The success of 8 students of Sotpattana School for the Deaf brought great joy to all especially their teachers and parents. Rev. Ceremony completion of early childhood education

Congratulations to Paeng, Spy, Wave, Note Kawinphop, Note A-non, Benz, Net, and Mio, on their completion of early childhood education at Sotpattana School for the Deaf at the end of the academic year 2014. Rev. Michael Weera Phangrak, Ed.D., the School’s Acting Licensee, hands each of the 8 graduates the school-leaving certificate in the formal ceremony held on Friday, 6th March 2015 at the auditorium of the Pattaya Orphanage.
